But sandwiches extend far beyond the Cuban, and in that spirit we’ve rounded up the best sandwich shops in Miami that serve more than Cuban sandwiches. We made one exception, and that’s where you’ll find the best Cuban sandwich in Miami.
Buccan Sandwich Shop
There are few things in food writing I enjoy more than trying an Instagram-hyped sandwich, then telling the world it’s no better than Publix. Sadly for me - and luckily for the rest of Miami - Buccan Sandwich Shop actually exceeds the hype. Chef Clay Conley’s beef carpaccio sub might be the Instagram star, but the Buffalo chicken is the sneaky good pick, topped with provolone, bleu cheese, romaine, and crispy onions. Do yourself a favor and order ahead – there’s no dining space anyway and ain’t nobody got time to wait on a line in this weather.
Pro tip: Get the full lunch box. It comes with a Buccan cookie, which is worth the upcharge on its own.

Chevre
Chevre blasted onto the scene this spring with its viral $100, caviar-topped hot dog. And look, we get it, everyone needs a gimmick to stand out. But Chevre was the best gourmet sandwich shop long before its internet fame. Founder Mario Naar has collected the best meats and cheeses from around the world, and put them on bread baked fresh every day. If you’re overwhelmed by the selections, try the Spaniard - crisp pan de cristal with jamon Iberico, chorizo Cantimpalo, Manchego, orange marmalade chunks, and olive oil.
Pro tip: Chevre delivers for free when your order is over $30. So give the finger to Uber Eats and order direct.

Enriqueta’s Sandwich Shop
Typically, a good sandwich shop has to be more than a one-cuisine pony. The lone exception is Enriqueta’s, which is what would have happened if the old man from “Up” also made a mean media noche. The little Cuban sandwich shop has been putting out the best Cuban sandwich in Miami for over 50 years. Of course, longevity doesn’t save anyone the wrecking ball in development-happy Miami, but since the family that owns this funky little sandwich shop also owns the land it sits on, it’s still kicking.
Pro tip: Whatever you do, don’t ever call the sandwich a “Cubano.” It’s the Miami equivalent of calling Chicago “Chi-town.”

Hungry Bear Subs
Trendy sandwich shops pop up in Miami faster than condo projects now. But OGs know the best sandwiches are still found in a strip mall under the banner of the Hungry Bear. Here, hungry Miamians have been filling their faces with honey mustard chicken and steak bomb subs since the late ‘70s. The family-owned sandwich shop has eschewed hotter hoods and kept it real in Kendall and Doral, endearing themselves to locals and making it a Miami institution.
Pro tip: The steak bomb and honey mustard might be the sandwiches your Miami native friends rave about, but the teriyaki chicken sub with a dash of Buffalo sauce will change your life.

La Sandwicherie
For people watching and sandwich eating, nowhere on planet Earth surpasses the original La Sandwicherie across from Mac’s Club Deuce at 4 am. But Sandwicherie passes the “I’d go back there sober” test with flying colors, which is why it’s expanded to five locations around Miami. The vegetables and baguettes seem impossibly fresh, both bringing flavor and crunch typically only found overseas. The sandwiches aren’t anything breaking the internet, but La Sandwicheire proves doing simple things well can still be a recipe for success.
Pro tip: If you’re sitting at The Deuce and getting hungry, but don’t quite feel like leaving, walk across the street and order one to go. The Deuce has no problem if you enjoy one at the bar.

Maison Baguette
Technically, Maison Baguette isn’t so much a sandwich shop as it is the bar at Maison Ostrow where you can pick up sandwiches. They’re the creation of Chef Olivia Ostrow, a woman at the forefront of the kosher gourmet movement who’s brought her creativity to the sandwich space. The menu is made up of sandwiches from around the world, ranging from Italian meatball to a brilliant lamb merguez with caramelized onions, pepperade, and Dijon mustard.
Pro tip: Parking here is impossible during the day. If you can’t get your sandwich delivered, call far ahead and find a semi-legal place to put on your flashers.

SNDWCH
The problem with a lot of so-called “viral” sandwich shops is they immediately draw lines of people with more time than brains. Which is why I love SNDWCH, where you find sandwiches just as good if not better than the places you saved on TikTok, with none of the crowd. Walk in and you’re greeted with quick service and smells of fresh bread, as a menu of hot Italian subs sits next to a selection of equally tempting pastas.
Pro tip: Opt for the chicken parm sub, which has vodka sauce baked into a breaded chicken cutlet.
