Super 7: The Best Frozen Yogurt Shops in Miami
They're actually not all Greek to me
Banana Daddy
Only in Miami does a frozen yogurt shop have a language warning for children. Not that there’s anything profane in this Midtown dessert palace where they’re making ice cream from bananas. You just have to be prepared for some conversations when your 8-year-old starts telling people “Cool girls eat bananas.” The fruit-as-ice-cream thing actually works, and the over-the-top sundae creations are as delicious as they are instagrammable. Plus, Banana Daddy makes all their pastries fresh daily.
Pro tip: Check out both the bathrooms, they’re worth the trip by themselves.

Go Greek
In this year’s most contentious food bottle, the nod goes to Go Greek as the best place in Miami for Greek frozen yogurt. The complete lack of a line was a big reason why, as this spot manages to put out top-notch Greek frozen yogurt with over 20 different topping options, and still not make people wait outside in sweltering heat. The self-serve concept keeps things moving, allowing people to enjoy the original, honey-flavored, or chocolate soft-serves however they see fit.
Pro tip: Try the limited time collab they’re doing with Korres called the Greek Glow Bowl. The mix of Greek yogurt, olive oil, honey, sea salt, and Greek biscuit crumble comes with 15% off Korres skincare products.

Meli
Just when we thought the robots were taking over, a Greek frozen yogurt shop comes along to revive our faith in humanity. Over six months of human tinkering, the folks behind Meli came up with a sugar-free Greek frozen yogurt that actually tastes good, which is why this Miami Shores shop has been a hit since it opened last November. The best sugar-free frozen yogurt in Miami also comes lactose free, if you’re the type who’s allergic to everything.
Pro tip: Meli does some really cool, experimental limited-time flavors like Tiramiyogurt and mango swirl. Follow their Instagram to see what’s on deck.

Myka
It seems only appropriate that Myka’s famous Brickell food truck sits across the street from Komodo. Because it is, essentially, the Komodo of Greek frozen yogurt. If you’re going for the scene, it’s tough to beat, where beautiful Brickell people congregate every evening to be seen with smooth, tart yogurt, pistachio crumble, and the occasional live DJ. The yogurt’s good enough to support the hype, but if you see a line for its Lincoln Road location move on. The stuff’s good, but hardly worth waiting for.
Pro tip: Scan the QR code menu at the head of the queue and have your order ready. There’s usually only one or two flavors and a small assortment of toppings, and you don’t wanna be that person asking questions and slowing the line.

Pharos
You might call Pharos the anti-Myka – a little, independently-owned Greek yogurt shop tucked into the Q-bano sandwich shop in SoFi, with zero hype and top-tier froyo. You’ll also find Miami’s most impressive collection of fresh fruit toppings, ranging from passionfruit to blueberry and mango. Pharos offers some of the more intriguing opportunities for creating your own, with the added benefit of minimal waits and indoor, air-conditioned seating.
Pro tip: Save room after your next fancy dinner in SoFi and get dessert here instead. It’s lighter, and lets you walk off at least one of the courses from Stubborn Seed.

Von Leeuwen Ice Cream
It pains me almost as much as admitting the Knicks won a championship to say that a “famed New York place that opened in Florida” is actually exceptionally good. But even New Yorkers are right once in a while, and Van Leeuwen is the real deal. The ice cream might be the headline grabber but the yogurt is a hidden gem, a rich, smooth, flavorful soft serve with zero dropoff from the full-fat stuff. Any of the four flavors will be a mouth-pleasing surprise, but the matcha was so good it almost got me rethinking my general aversion to matcha.
Pro tip: Get the FroYo Flight, where three different flavors get three different topping treatments. It’s the perfect dessert to share when everyone wants something but nobody wants a whole thing.

Whip’n Dip
Whip’n Dip is a true South Miami institution, dishing out their homemade ice cream for over 40 years now. While the rich, decadent homemade flavors have earned a loyal following, it’s the shop’s signature Lite Ice Cream that has become synonymous with the brand. While not labeled as frozen yogurt, it’s pretty damn similar and lower in calories than most spots at just 18 calories per ounce. Flavors are rotated on a weekly basis to keep things fresh, but if the cookie butter flavor is available you best believe I’m there.
Pro tip: Not feeling the swirl on any given day, turn any lite ice cream flavor into a shake.
