Undressing Nude Miami
Haters gonna hate. But that coffee bar and Coconut Cult yogurt are worth breaking the bank for.
Way back when (I’m talking the 90’s), Epicure and Bay Harbour Fine Foods revolutionized the grocery shopping experience in Miami. Then they closed. And then came Erewhon in California whose concept made a splash across Murica courtesy of their unaffordable yet somehow out-of-control amazing selection within. Editor’s note: Let me be clear when stating that Erewhon is often imitated and never duplicated.
Fast forward, last week Nude on Brickell Bay Drive opened their doors for a friends and family preview. And I made the cut. So my wellness guru and ‘influencer’ Katherine Garbarino and I headed over. Exploring the few mini-aisles within, I was impressed. And although you need to qualify for a Centurion card to enjoy the luxuries, it’s strangely worth it.
Lastly, @nude…. there is no need to post Alix Earle for validation. Speaking of markets non grata, she is persona non interesada….
So how’s this different from other specialty markets?
Well, it’s on Brickell. And aside from a tiny selection at Casa Tua Cucina and the stale spot on Brickell Key, it seems that a local grocer was formerly persona non grata. Enter Nude. This immaculate grocer was well thought out. Without a detail spared - they sourced some wonderful brands. From the freshly, locally The Love Loaf baked artisan baked breads to Homestead-based Paradise Farms magic, they also have an ALL ORGANIC prepared food bar! I sampled many items. Hmmmm…..
The scene: It’s scening! Once the lines subside (yes, they had lines), it should be a no-brainer to go and enjoy a casual lunch or to pick up produce. They have a small seating area within, so if you get the dishes I mentioned above including their Coconut Cult yogurt with Passionfruit, I would say that it’s ideal to sit and enjoy inside. Their coffees are also delicious.
What to eat and drink: I mentioned trying the hot bar because it’s organic. However, I neglected to mention their sourdough fusilli mac and cheese. That was pretty decadent and divine! The Kale Caesar was also divine. As was the Sesame noodle dish. The rest of the options could use extra love, but in all fairness it was day 1 of friends and family.
Don’t miss: The iced coffee with burned vanilla syrup…or the date syrup you can not go wrong with….
Perfect for: Items. I am a reasonable shopper and I pay attention to prices for quality items. So I would say it’s ideal for a coffee, a healthy lunch or one or two grocery items. It’s not too practical for a shopping spree yet amazing to hunt for new small-batch brands.
Expect to pay: It’s pay-for-play. And what you spend totally depends on your cravings. From $5 for a box of Sourdough pasta to……
How’s the parking: Street parking, galore!
