The Best Bottomless Drag Brunch Ain’t a Drag
Who would’ve thunk Ocean Drive was a thing? Well, The Palace is keeping things fresh and regal. All you need are dolla bills.
Truth be told, I’m not into wild crowds these days. However, put me in a rainbow romper and offer me a gaggle of gays and I’m happy as a clam. Enter last week where I decided to gather my fancy friends and celebrate pt. 2 of my 43rd birthday.
Choosing the Palace for their weekend, world renowned drag brunch experience was the best decision ever.
I love me a good drag queen. Bottomless mimosas. And fried chicken. And it was all there under one big partially outdoor roof. For a total of two hours, we enjoyed their weekend brunch which was a TOP decision to celebrate and I highly recommend it - especially if you love great music, and some talented ladies making moves we could only dream of executing one day.
The Scene: Ocean Drive. Yep, it doesn’t get any better. Or sometimes any worse. However, what’s more heavenly than being ON THE OCEAN (essentially as it’s across the street)? A venue that is surrounded by palm trees and sand - it’s a fantastically fun yet somehow ratchet paradise at the Palace. The Palace is half indoors and half outdoors, but sitting outdoors for their weekly drag brunch is where it’s at. You get to see all the things and feel all the feels while breathing in that thick heavenly ocean air. Prepare yourself for their abdominal loaded servers who end up shirtless on poles. The music is CeCe Peniston mixed with Diana Ross. There are slapping fans that get the crowd going for the entirety of the two hours. It’s CASUAL, too which makes that much better. I wore sneakers and a romper because, you know, it’s Miami and it’s HOT. People at the Palace dance. Guests exchange their 50’s for 1’s to tip the ladies because it’s all about dolla dolla bills, y’all. And so pro tip: bring cash. You get extra drag love and they are worth it!
What to Eat and Drink: So let me break this down in a few words. The menu is extensive. There is something for everyone. We tried many dishes but LOVED the fried chicken. It was JUICY (they come in tender, thick form). And the fruit salad was killer delicious. The kiwi shockingly hit my spot. The mimosas are bottomless. Lastly, EVERYTHING is made from SCRATCH. Does it get better? NOPE.
Don’t Miss: I ordered four vodka sodas and they were PERFECTION!
Perfect For: Well, I cannot wait to go back. I’ve made like four plans to do so with different groups. It’s an amazing way to celebrate a birthday. It’s ideal for tourists, for a bachelorette party or just because you’re wanting some joy and excitement. There is also a pool upstairs for guests to enjoy after the two hour show on the weekends.
Expect to Pay: $60 pp is the standard price. It includes an entree and bottomless mimosas. 20% is added. However, I had ten people. The bill was $1200, so at $120 pp we drank our souls away (not the mimosas), and had ten entrees to share.
How’s the Parking: Please take a ride share. But, if you decide NOT to partake in drinking, there is ample street parking on Washington Ave. and Collins Ave.
