Ossobuco may not be the new kid on Miami’s culinary block, but its Aventura Mall location certainly is. And thank God for that. Bringing its signature wood-fired cooking to the 33180, Ossobuco has quickly become one of the most noteworthy dining experiences in the neighborhood. From the atmosphere to the attentive service and, most importantly, the food, this is one restaurant that deserves to be around for years to come.
At the heart of their culinary philosophy is Chef Guillermo Eleicegui’s passion for cooking over an open flame, where fire, smoke and exceptional ingredients. Also take note of the intoxicating aroma of the wood fire, which practically deserves its own mention.
We kicked off the evening with a slew of appetizers, including vegetables kissed by the flames that were nothing short of spectacular. Seriously, who knew vegetables could be this exciting? The beef tartare was another standout, as beautiful in its presentation as it was delicious. And then came the burger. Let’s just say it has officially earned a place among the best burgers we’ve tasted in Miami thus far.
What makes Ossobuco especially appealing is its versatility. Whether you’re planning a date night, meeting friends for dinner, celebrating a special occasion or simply craving an outstanding meal after an afternoon at Aventura Mall, the restaurant manages to feel appropriate for just about any occasion. It’s polished without feeling pretentious, lively without losing its sense of hospitality, and the food more than lives up to the setting.
The scene: It’s poppin’ for Aventura. My best friend Dara and her husband also agreed. With warm views and impeccable lighting, there were very well heeled locals who likely reside in Golden Beach/Williams Island with expendable incomes. Dressed to the nines, it’s a fantastic spot for a double date, dinner with the family or a romantic evening with your loved one.
What to eat and drink: Sometimes it is the most unsuspecting menu items that are the most wow. And for us - that was the slew of vegetable apps we ordered. Considered to be a ‘Wood Fired Steakhouse,’ it was the Roasted Carrot, the Sweet & Sour Cauliflower and the Broccolini Josper. As I type my mouth waters. The burger was also OOC (out of control). With melted sweet onions, it was just insane. We cut it into four pieces. And it was devoured. The desserts were just as incredible as the apps and the burger. Save room for the Banana with ice cream. There is caramelized popcorn on top for the perfect crunch. And the deep friend Ube Empanada.
Don’t miss: The Beef Tartare was divine. Perfectly prepared and simply gorgeous, it was topped with caviar and a crisp.
Perfect for: Dinner with a girlfriend. Somehow, it’s just as perfect for a meal with your other half or a night out with well behaved kids.
Expect to pay: $70 for a reasonable order - $150 pp. I mean it’s all relevant to whether or not you drink. But you can get apps for around $18, entrees for $42 and sides for $14. But if you’re craving a burger - you can get out of there for a mere $24 ++
How’s the parking: It’s in Aventura Mall. So there are endless lots. Park near Serafina/Rivian or Valet outside of Motek!
