The Best Thing I Ate This Week: Groit Wings & Rachel Omelettes
It was a decadent week in eating to say the least
Rachel Omelette at Michael’s Genuine Food & Drink
Look, I'm not usually the person who gets excited about a Rachel sandwich. The rye bread always ruins it for me. But when I hit Michael's Genuine Food & Drink for their new brunch, they flipped the script with a Rachel omelette that knocked me out. Think about it - pastrami, pickled cabbage, and cave-aged gruyère tucked into fluffy eggs instead of bread, with thousand island sauce drenched across the top.
The combo just works. You get that fatty pastrami punch, the cabbage cuts through with some tang, and the gruyère brings this nutty richness that ties everything together. I never thought I'd be this excited about something based on a sandwich I don't even like. If you're torn between sweet or savory at brunch this weekend, trust me - go savory and get this thing. — OF

Groit Wings at 26 Degrees Kitchen and Brewery
There’s not a lot of things that’ll make a person drive to Pompano that don’t involve harness racing. And since that sport isn’t quite the sport of kings it once was, I guess I can thank Danny Serfer for creating a wing sauce so unique it’s worth 45 minutes on I-95. If you’re not up on Haitian cuisine, Griot is a traditional dish using pork shoulder and a spicy sauce made from peppers, garlic, lime juice, and a slew of different spices. Danny crafted his own version for 26 Degrees that’s thick enough to stick to a plate of wings. Its flavors are so complex and crack-addict spice you’ll never look at plate Buffalo wings again without thinking they’re a little pedestrian. Pair them with the Captain Ron heff and you may start saying stuff like “Honestly, you put on a podcast and the drive’s not so bad.’
