From Palm Beach to Coral Gables, the Most Difficult OG Resy in the 561 is Already Shaking Up the 305
Forget their sandwich shop that’s breaking the net. This is the real deal.
Ever since Buccan opened its doors in 2011 in Palm Beach, I must say that I have been a loyal customer. I had known of Chef Clay Conley from his tenure at Azul at the Mandarin Oriental when I was working at rbbCommunications in 2005. I probably got axed from that job courtesy of late nights at that hotel and supping and sipping in that excellent restaurant. But fast forward to when Clay departed and moved to Palm Beach to open up Buccan - well, I followed. As did many locals in Miami. And before our very eyes, he became the real star right off of Worth Avenue where on any given night - somebody whose anybody was dining within their perfectly dimmed light establishment.
What was once legit worth the drive for an hour ++ to arrive for the warm, yet vibrant vibe and the hot dog appetizer which captured my heart is no longer a necessity. And that’s because just two weeks ago, Buccan opened up their doors on the oh-so-newly-trending Miracle Mile.
What to eat and drink: The Hot Dog Panini is the best thing you ever experienced in your life. And that’s coming from yours truly who just a few weeks ago posted a story about never eating them in public. Perfectly balanced with a in-house braised sauerkraut with bacon and god knows what other magic, it’s lightly covered with gruyere cheese and toasted. As if that weren’t enough, it comes with a teeny side of chili to accompany the oral explosion. I could order two and be good, but for the sake of this story I tried many dishes that were outstanding. Their fusilli is vegan and comparable to Cacio e Pepe is Vegan and please - get it! The Medium Rare steak was cooked impeccably sliced and the Swordfish with a side of snap peas stole my heart. Four INSANELY wow Chopin dirty martinis later, I don’t even recall dessert! PS, my girlfriend from Taiwan was with me and she loved the duck, as did her husband.
Perfect for: For the three of us, with shared plates - four starters, two entrees, a pasta and 11 drinks it was $500 without tip. Which seems way too reasonable to be true. And it is!
Don’t miss: Take a look at the open kitchen. It’s impressive to watch the excellence.
Expect to pay: Around $200 a person including gratuity if you’re thirsty.
How’s the parking: There’s a lot of street parking but their drinks are stiff - so Uber!
