Super 7: North Beach’s Top Joints for F&B
From Coffee to Omakase and Taquenos to Burgers, you can’t go wrong in this neighborhood
North Beach’s iconic venue the Miami Beach Bandshell has been hosting their Rhythm of the Cup concert series all throughout the World Cup. It closes out this Friday with Chromeo, and you can win TWO TICKETS by commenting on this post and telling us why you should go. We’ll announce the winner on Thursday morning! And just in time, here’s a look at where to grab a bite and a drink before the show.
Sushi Bichi
James Recio had a vision. And executed it flawlessly. Formerly the GM of Sushi Samba when that was a thing, he found an ocean-front (I swear) outdoor area beneath a building on the boardwalk and built it with his hands (I swear).... Tile by tile, it’s become one of the most talked about Japanese spots in town. But more than Japanese, Sushi Bichi offers dishes that are influenced by his worldly travels, so you don’t just get a typical sushi experience. But think of a Mexican Corn Salad, an insane strip steak with black beans and rice, and a burger that melts on your tongue.
Pro tip: Get the fatty salmon belly nigiri. Speaking of melting on your tongue - it steals your heart! They also have a HH that is ideal!

Sunshine Coffee
Our dear friend Alan Phillips is way more than a marketing guru. He and his wife Gelareh and their team of partners are slowly expanding their chic caffeine operation to include Sunshine Coffee in North Beach. This past month, they opened their notable yellow doors for locals to experience their menu options and drinks, too. From Matcha to bagels that they import from Manhattan, don’t miss it. And it’s less expensive and way more trendy and delicious than Starbucks!
Pro tip: Order the Banana Baby. It’s oat milk x banana blended with their coffee - which PS is brewed locally!

Cafe Prima Pasta
As Old Miami as it gets, aside from Prima Pasta’s martini’s being the size of your face, Prima Pasta has stayed true to the game. And to the community. A favorite of editors and foodies alike, it’s the kind of joint where you can go alone and sit at the bar with their team of friendly bartenders or go with some friends and sit in one of their booths for more intimacy. Their chicken parm and pastas for the win!
Pro tip: Martini, martini, martini…. They should actually have a limit like Duke’s in London because they take a toll on the soul!

Moises Bakery Miami Beach
Years back, Omar Hernandez of Omar’s NYC dragged me for a colada and a pastry to Moises Bakery. And it was outstanding. This Venezuelan Bakery is frill-free, butter loaded and every sweet delight like the elephant ears and the empanadas are baked to perfection.
Pro tip: They even have fresh squeezed OJ. It’s damn good!

Petralunga
There is Italian food. And then there is Petralunga which is legit Roman inspired - from their thin and crispy pizza crafted with long fermented dough and imported Italian flours to create an ultra thin, crisp crust topped with everything from classic Margherita and spicy four cheese to decadent combinations featuring stracciatella, truffle oil, prosciutto, and burrata. Beyond pizza, their pasta is divine. They also have the staples like burrata with prosciutto, buffalo mozzarella caprese, Sicilian tuna tartare, and sautéed mussels and clams.
Pro tip: They offer simply grilled items for something more healthy, but we say the Margherita and the pastas like bolognese are WOW!

Locura Marina
Perhaps one of the best hidden gems in Miami when it comes to incredible Peruvian seafood, Locura Marina is basic. And it’s perfect. Serving breakfast, lunch and dinner - what had me at hello within are their ceviches. Not only is there a stellar assortment, they are all made per order to guarantee each visitors customized orders turn out just right! The extensive menu has a lunch special at 19.99 and a dinner special at 24.99 - so not only is it the best deal in town, it’s the most memorable and homemade-esque for those hunting for the perfect Papa a la Huancaina (a national dish) or Lomo Saltado, a stir-fry steak dish with fries, rice and a killer sauce to match.
Pro tip: If you can’t mess with MSG - tell them ‘no ajinomoto,’ and you get ceviche sans bloat/headache!

Silverlake Bistro
This OG spot was one of the most notable restaurants to shed light on this quaint community courtesy of their rich yet elevated American cuisine with French influence. Committed to pleasing their repeat customers courtesy of every dish being thoughtfully prepared using quality ingredients and a dedication to craftsmanship, even the wine experience is complemented by their sommelier’s curated wine list showcasing small boutique wineries, alongside a carefully selected lineup of local craft beers, making Silverlake Bistro a neighborhood favorite and a frequented destination for legit foodies.
Pro tip: Every Thursday, their full wine list at half the price. And allegedly they have a mussel and wine special on Monday’s. I heard it through the grapevine!
