They say the third time is a charm. But when it comes to Gold Standard - I would like to say the 5th time is one. And that’s because it’s their fifth pop-up over the past decade. And not only was it a charm. It blew my mind, hence its name ‘Gold Standard.’

Co-founded by the legendary Bill Spector who has nailed it thanks to his culinary team, it’s located in the heart of Sunset Harbour. If you ask why this is a hidden gem. Well, that’s because it’s hidden! Right up a colorfully lit path, you enter an alley off of 18th and West Avenue. And voila.

An Omakase joint where over 90 percent of the fish is imported from Japan, the Chef collective composed of Ronnie and Soren was a major part of the excellence as these personality loaded wizards were serving us in style. From the Soba green tea noodles with apple, to the cucumber and julienned with sesame ponzu, Bluefin Tuna, Japanese Sea Bream, Hamachi, Shima-Aji, Golden Eye Snapper, O Toro, Spanish Mackerel, Seare…
